Jack threw out a couple of classic lines, with typical dramatic flair, while folding clothes (for wii time) the other night:
"Man, doing Laundry is HARD! Do you have any idea how hard this is?!" spoken in the general direction of his mother.
And then, as he was folding my shorts "Wow, Dad your fly is huge!" Thank you.
But, Jack has also been busy growing up. In the last two weeks, he mowed our lawn (about 3/4 of an acre) for the first time, twice. It is an inspiring site to see one's 8 year old marching along behind the whirring hum of a lawn mower, muscling the machine back & forth across deep green rows of grass...
And finally, a tale of joy & pride. This weekend at Deepwood Lodges on Lake Winnipesaukee, Jack's swam, boated, played whiffle ball and water tubed, but his favorite activity was fishing. He woke up early each morning counting the seconds until he was allowed to cast a line into the clear shallow waters off the boat dock. He quickly learned to bait his own hook, and developed a crisp, effective cast. And though he reeled in a little too anxiously at times, he managed to snare several fish including a nice 8 inch pumpkin seed fish. In warmed the heart to see him so determined, and the focus that kicked in when he felt a tug on the line, and alas a dazzling smile as he held his prize catch up for all to see.
