Sam went on a date tonight with his Mom. After some deliberation, he decided to wear his Superman cape, a good decision as he attracted much attention around Market Square in Portsmouth. Sam and Mom shared hot chocolates and Sam choose a football cookie. They sat up in "the high chairs" looking out at the streets of Portsmouth. After dessert "SuperSam" decided it would be a good idea to take a walk. On the walk, Sam noticed a police officer "nice cape buddy" on a motorcycle and, using his x-ray vision, noticed a light was not working on the motorcycle. The officer was very appreciative of the heroic deed, Sam shrugged it off as part of Superhero's work. According to mom, Sam beamed with pride at every comment about his "great cape". It is these moments of pure joy, before pride gives way to embarrassment, that I want to hold onto forever. To be 4, on a date with mom, wearing a cape in a world where there is no kryptonite...
